The orifice is a type of the standard restrictive flow orifice in form of a thin metal disc with the round bore in the middle, which has sharp square edge on the flow inlet side. The orifice is intended for metering flow and amount of liquid and gases, which run in fully filled round section pipelines, by the variable pressure drop.
The measurement method of fluid running in the instrument pipeline is based on creation of the flow with the help of the metering orifice, herewith part of the potential energy of the flow transfers into the kinetic energy. Flow average velocity increases in place of its narrowing and static pressure becomes less than static pressure before the orifice. The more is pressure difference (pressure drop) before and after the orifice, the more is fluid flow, consequently it can be the measure of flow. Dependence of the pressure drop on flow is a quadratic value.
Our company manufactures standard orifices according to DSTU GOST 8.586.1 2:2009 (ISO 5167 1,2:2003) of DKS type.
DKS orifice is the standard chamber type orifice installed on pipeline flanges designed for the rated pressure of up to 10 MPa with the nominal inside diameter from 50 to 500 mm.

Conventional orifice
By DSTU GOST 8.586.2:2009 (ISO 5167-2:2003) DKS is used in the following conditions:
- orifice bore diameter Ød ≥ 12.5 mm;
- relation of the restrictive flow orifice bore diameter with the inner diameter of the instrument pipeline before the restrictive flow orifice, the so called β coefficient, must be within the limits of 0.1 ≥β ≤0.75;
- Reynolds number Re ≥5000 at β ≤0.56 and Re ≥16000β2 at β> 0.56.
By request we can make other types of standard orifices: DVS, DBS with angle, triradius or flanged way of pressure take-off.
